CARTER BARKIS WINS JUNIOR IN FIRST RIDE ON PPK COYOTE AT TRACKHOUSE MOTORPLEX

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Trackhouse Motorplex’s fifth round of their 2024 Karting Challenge club series was a day of firsts for Florida’s Carter Barkis on Saturday, May 11.

The event marked Barkis’ first time racing a 206 at Trackhouse’s 0.7-mile course, and it was also the junior driver’s debut with the PPK team on a 2024 Coyote Racing Chassis Zenith.

Barkis made the day count. Starting shotgun on the 14-kart field in the Junior prefinal, he drove his way up to P6 in the 8-lap prelim for an outside third-row starting position for the 11-lap final.

The accomplished cadet driver put together a fine drive in the main event, methodically advancing through the field to move into P3 midway through the race and into the lead on lap 8. He’d lead the rest of the way, crossing the finish stripe 0.065 seconds ahead of P2 for the win.

An impressive performance from our team’s newest member! We’re looking forward to more success with Carter as the 2024 season enters the summer stretch.

In senior racing, PPK drivers Christopher McKeithan finished P2 in the Briggs Senior final, Jared Clarke was P6 in the same race, and Chris Carroll finished P5 in Briggs Heavy.

PPK’s upcoming races include Cup Karts South at Daytona Int’l Speedway kart track May 24-26 and the CKNA Summer Nationals at Pittsburgh Int’l Race Complex June 21-23.
